A sleigh load.  https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Autostarting

Interesting.  I didn't know that there were so many different methods;
oh the joys of Linux :-)

As it happens, the 'fix'; that I used (complete reinstallation) only
worked once, and the previous misbehaviour recurred.

I then posted a query on Ubuntu One (which used to be Ask Ubuntu), but
that didn't really yield anything much, except for the information
(buried in the cruft at the bottom of the Discover installation page),
that I needed to connect it to the password manager service:

|Bitwarden requires access to the `password-manager-service` for secure
storage. Please enable it through permissions or by running `sudo snap
connect bitwarden:password-manager-service`.|

That made it work, but only once again.  I was then advised to query the
Bitwarden Support site, which I did; no response so far.
