Whilst the corruption exists, most bets are off and trying more things risks worsening the corruption. If it's a Pi's SD card, start afresh?
I was coming round to that way of thinking. I do have a backup of an earlier SD Card, so I may start with that, before I completely reformat and re-install Raspberry Pi OS and all the associated configurations.
