Hi Terry, > └─nmbd.service @6.501s +50.060s ... > As you can see, the culprit seems to be nmbd.service
It's such a nice round number that one assumes it's a time-out, or multiple retries with each timing out, e.g. five of 10 s. > I previously setup a samba server on the laptop to assist with sharing > files but I don't currently on the desktop So are you still using Samba to serve files from the laptop to the desktop? If there's no need for it now on either then I'd suggest your purge, rather than just remove, Samba, to clear out old configuration so you start afresh on a future install. Otherwise, if you still need it but your needs have changed then you may still benefit from a purge and reinstall if your configuration isn't too complex to re-create. Perhaps you have something stated that's no longer true and misleads nmbd. Have you examined the journal since the last boot, looking for the big 50-second delay to see if nmbd logs anything around then, or if something else does that allows nmbd to continue? journalctl -b -o with-unit If there's nothing then check /var/log for any samba-related log files in case it doesn't log through systemd's journal. -- Cheers, Ralph. -- Next meeting: BEC, Bournemouth, Tuesday, 2019-10-01 20:00 Check to whom you are replying Meetings, mailing list, IRC, ... http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ New thread, don't hijack: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk
