I concur with this.  I have been using a single SD Card to test the hardware 
for each of the Gate Valves that I am currently building for WMT.  Each time I 
SSH into the newly built device, I get this message because the hardware has 
changed, but the IP address hasn't so the PC I'm using smells a rat.

I can accept this situation because it is easier to simply delete the old key 
and create a new one.  In your message the line:

Offending ECDSA key in /home/peterm/.ssh/known_hosts:8
   remove with:
   ssh-keygen -f "/home/peterm/.ssh/known_hosts" -R "192.168.1.9"

tells you how.  You will then be able to log in after agreeing to generate a 
new key.
