Hi John, > > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-390/+bug/1768050 > > That was perfect! My system is now stable and back to normal. > How do you find these relevant bug reports? What do you search for?
My browser history shows I Googled for when removing diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1 by libnvidia-gl-390 In general, I try to look for a phrase that precisely identifies this problem compared to similar ones, and then work `outwards', making it more general, if that doesn't yield good results. If the results are too general then I work inwards by adding more specifics, e.g. the Ubuntu version. Based on Terry's search results, it's possible I have Google well trained as to what's relevant to me. Or Google have been spying on me too long, depending on one's outlook. > Unfortunately that means that flightgear still doesn't work! Try after booting from an Ubuntu 18.10 USB stick or similar to see if the problem has gone away `in the future'. http://wiki.flightgear.org/Graphics_drivers_configuration looked interesting, especially the mention of `glxgears'. Do you obtain FlightGear from an Ubuntu repository? Have you considered a PPA instead that might have a later version that runs on your current Ubuntu 18.04? -- Cheers, Ralph. -- Next meeting: BEC, Bournemouth, Tuesday, 2019-03-05 20:00 Check to whom you are replying Meetings, mailing list, IRC, ... http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ New thread, don't hijack: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk
