Ok this is going against the perceived paradigm but I can state that it does
work.

Last week I decided to update my desktop machine from the old Ubuntu LTS to the
new one. It took a long time. In fact so long that I just went to bed and let
things take there course during the night.

There were a number of early hurdles like

The process came up with message about another update channel working and then
a message about a partial update was only possibly.

Anyhow I then started the upgrade process again without a re-boot and got a
message about drivers or something, which I choose the no option. Then lo and
behold the next morning the upgrade had occurred.

The machine in question is now an elderly clone running on 850 mhz processor
and 250 mb of memory.

The cpu fan appeared to be under pressure and locked up the machine. So gave it
a good clean and the system now works fine and marginally faster I would say
under Lucid than Hardy.

Also it has a Nvidia card.

Hope that helps,

Mark Elkins
