Bug ID: 70118
Summary: README claims homepage contains “details of the latest
version”
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.4.68
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: trivial
Priority: P4
Component: Documentation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
The README contains a “The Latest Version” section, which reads:
> Details of the latest version can be found on the [Apache HTTP server project
> page](https://httpd.apache.org/).
>
The httpd project’s homepage does contain *information* about the latest
version (in particular, its “number”), but details are actually on
https://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/Announcement2.4.html or pages that links to.
While just changing “Details of” to “Information on” may fix, providing
information on the latest version via a product’s website has become banal,
making this look obvious and dated. I suggest either merging that section with
the first item from the Contacts list, or just removing (or moving to the
website).
By the way, that section visibly uses Markdown syntax, but the file is not a
Markdown file.
