In fact, it was index.xml.fr expanded to
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/fr/index.html (french version)
I'll send you soon a patch
(since I was translating rewriteguide.xml !)
Almost all the text from there is now in the docs under
manual/rewrite/, so the work is not wasted. You just need to
reorganize it a little.
