Dave;
 Matthias is correct it was never meant to be used to edit the wiki. All
documentation was done by ODFAuthors and the MWE (MediaWike Extension)
was used to add it to the the mwiki as well as having both odt files and
PDF files as well as individual chapters available for download from the
wiki.

There was also a companion extension that would create ODT files from
the mwiki content.I am not sure what the status of it at the moment.I
believe it was used in conjunction with the BOOK command or extension on
the wiki.

This looks like the leading candidate For the new documentation proposal
I am working on.
