Hi Joshua,

Welcome to the Apache OpenOffice community.

You have started in the right place by working though the introductory
modules. However, your email reached this list through the moderation
process, which suggests that you may have overlooked what the
introductory modules say about subscribing to one or more of the
project's mailing lists. Since you have have indicated your interest in
helping with documentation you should at least subscribe to this list
and read through the list archives to find out the progress of the
recently started documentation effort.
See https://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/openoffice-doc/
The project's main mailing list is the developer list which, despite the
connotations of it's name, is where most of the wider project issues are
discussed.
See:
https://openoffice.apache.org/mailing-lists.html#development-mailing-list-public

Like most open source projects, there are no "bosses" here to assign
tasks. We are all volunteers (some with more knowledge and/or
experience) and everyone is equal to the other. Just pick something that
interests you and go to work on it. If you are ever in doubt and need
help or guidance post to the most appropriate list and ask.

The recently established "User Guide Status" wiki page:
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/UserGuide/Status
may have something you would like review or edit. If so, read the
"Contributing in the Wiki" section of this page:
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Contribute

Regards
Dave
