For IPv6 servers should use mechanisms to avoid having to do PMTUD.

Set the MSS to the IPv6 network MTU.  This really helps when there are 
asymmetric
routing.

Set IPV6_USE_MINMTU to 1 on UDP sockets.  Again this helps when there are
asymmetric routing.

Both of these also help when ICMPv6 is being blocked by operators that don’t
understand IPv6.
