Hi, Thanks Shumon for the summary of the major changes to the compact-denial draft.
As Shumon pointed out, there were some useful comments that came in after IETF Last Call. The authors have integrated those comments, which are not extensive but not trivial. There’s a judgment call to be made in such situations, and the DNSOP chairs discussed with our AD whether the changes were substantive “enough” that we needed him to send it back to the WG for further review. We decided that he didn’t need to formally return the draft to the WG for a full WGLC. But we are inviting interested folks to take a good look at the recent changes; this will confirm that we still have consensus to advance it and haven’t overlooked any gaps or side effects of changes made after the WG handed off the draft. This does add some time before the draft will be an RFC, but it’s important that the WG has a chance to discuss the latest version of the draft before Warren takes it back to the IESG and possibly (up to him) another IETF Last Call. We’re also trying to keep this extra review cycle short. So if you have edits or concerns on the latest version of this draft, please provide them to the authors and the list by the end of the day next Wednesday, January 15. Thanks!
