RFC 1034 (November 1987, but I'm sure you know that) uses the term "host name" quite freely, notably at 5.2.1.1, where the use of an A record for "Host name to host address translation" is described. The semantic subtlety of placing or omitting a space between "host" and "name" is too delicate for me.
