Hi and thanks for dnsmasq,

I have two lans that both use the same private domain (like .home.arpa) and I'd
like to route
between them over a vpn. Both have a local nameserver running dnsmasq so to
differentiate the
domains I would update them with unique subdomains e.g. site1.home.arpa and
site2.home.arpa. This
allows me to
resolve hosts in both lans uniquely and direct queries appropriately.

What I'd really like to do is continue to use .home.arpa at each site to
resolve domain local hosts
as a sort of alias, and .site{1,2}.home.arpa to resolve the "other" hosts. As
best I can tell this
is one purpose of the DNAME record in rfc 6722, but it seems dnsmasq does not
currently have
support.

Is there another way to achieve what I want in dnsmasq, or has there been any
prior effort
supporting DNAME reconds in dnsmasq? Just adding the record is not sufficient
because the rfc
requires some behavior from the nameserver like synthesizing CNAMEs.

Thanks,
Ronan
