Actually, I missed a fairly mature solution idea, Samba's CTDB...?
There is already the DHCP Failover Protocol
(draft-ietf-dhc-failover-12.txt), that's what ISC DHCPD supports. But
the solution given there seems pretty complex, the draft is about 130
pages. Seems like a bit of overkill.
