The fact that apt "purge" removes the whole xserver-xorg stuff together
with libelogind0 might be a bit confusing,
but you can reinstall those packages afterwards once (libsystemd0 |
consolekit) has replaced to elogind;
apt "install" (libsystemd0 | libelogind0)removes elogind , but xorg will
remain in the system instead.
