Hi,

are you using md and mdam?

If YES,  then below command
might help you to find where you 
installed kernel and grub  

mdadm --details /dev/md0

#disclaimer:
 this is just an effect of mdadm 
 command output.

 There are better ways, I do not know,
  I think.
