could be... The problematic laptop has Intel Core2 processors, I have
another laptop, similarly configured except the desktop environment, and
it is has an AMD processor and seems stable. Will test it more this weekend.
Sometimes there are changes in kernel API and the libc must match
the changes internally. And the changes may be arch-specific. Comparing
two kernel versions with the same version of libc may not be as
meaningfull as suggested.
