Hi Edward, If you want to use slim as Display Manager you can do: apt-get -s install slim libpolkit-backend-consolekit-1-0 libpolkit-gobject- consolekit-1-0 libpam-ck-connector Then remove the -s if all is OK. Eventually you need to: apt-get -s --purge remove elogind libelogind0 libpam-elogind Same with the -s as above. xfce is also known to work fine with lightdm if you don't want slim,.
