The error is there, and exists only if you have never had udev installed. We know how to get around that. Will be fixing that shortly. The best way forward is to just symlink /etc/init.d/eudev to /etc/init.d/udev. This will solve the problem.
One of my systems does not show this error, and this has udev installed. The description of udev is:
"This is a transitional package to ease upgrades to the eudev package. It can safely be removed."
Since this package contains the required /etc/init.d/udev file, it looks like it CANNOT safely be removed.
