Systemd requires an initramfs, and if somebody had real a real /sbin directory, inclusion of ext4 drivers means a very simple boot to an ext4 (no LFS, no encryption) root drive containing /etc/fstab, after which the real init on the real filesystem could mount all the exotic directories anyone could dream of. Geez, how would Red Hat make money if Linux were simple?
