Looking at comments there, it seems it's about
the size of the system and systemd is definitely
too big for them, just as the whole GNU userland
and glibc in particular.
All of these arguments make sense to me: it's all geared towards
being simple and slim. Very attractive, under the condition it is a true
development platform, meaning gcc with all languages, m4, autotools and
many others... I'll try it some day...
