Hi,

You probably want to recompile a couple of things -if not all- after you 
upgraded to snow leopard from a previous version.
Default is now 64 bits instead of old 32bits, so this can cause some issues.
In your case, you may have some 32bits libraries and some 64bits.
I personally got rid of my previous macport binaries and reinstalled them from 
scratch.
