As part of a site restructuring and migration from PHP to Django, I'm
looking for a Django forum app to replace phpBB in our current setup.
(We'd like to get rid of PHP altogether and avoid needing to keep it
updated and secured.)

I found this comparison page:
http://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/ForumAppsComparison

And I found this discussion on here from a few months ago:
http://groups.google.com/group/django-users/browse_thread/thread/cb4f843823d6033c/cf465620304f8668

I'm currently looking through some of the applications listed or
mentioned, but I wanted to know if anyone had suggestions for which
forum app they prefer and why. (My requirements include access
controls [so some areas of the forum are accessible only to certain
users], polls, and generally looking good: too many of the ones I've
seen have looked kind of ugly. Ability to migrate data from phpBB
would be a plus, but I can manage a manual migration if I have to.
And an app that has an active community would be great.)

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
peppergrower
