I get the same no-response if try GET / HTTP/1.1 using telnet on a working site of mine, where a plain GET / works via telnet. So it's likely not the HTTP/1.1 that the browser is sending but something else different between trying with a browser and trying with telnet. I've got no clue what though. Karen--
