Did you guys try it within the project directory with the projects settings module or set the environment DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE for your project, I'm a linux user and you would do either: # export DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=myproject.settings # django_admin.py makemessages For windows I believe it's: C:\> set DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=myproject.settings C:\> django_admin.py makemessages Mike -- Kington's Law of Perforation: If a straight line of holes is made in a piece of paper, such as a sheet of stamps or a check, that line becomes the strongest part of the paper.
