Untested but should work (in admin.py):
class ThingAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin):
def queryset(self, request):
qs = super(ThingAdmin, self).queryset(request)
qs = qs.filter(some_integer_field__gt=10)
return qs
admin.site.register(Thing, ThingAdmin)
