No, there isn't, but it doesn't seem like you'd need that. It seems like listening for class_prepared would be one option. There's no need to do anything before ModelBase._prepare runs; the only thing that does is handle looking up ABSOLUTE_URL_OVERRIDES, which you won't be using anyway.
