Hey Pieter -- You may want to experiment with the SESSION_COOKIE_DOMAIN setting (http://www.djangoproject.com/documentation/settings/#session-cookie-domain); it could be that Safari's doing strange things with ".local" session cookies and doing something explicit could help. Worth a shot, at least.
