I've used hosting services that only have CGI available for running python programs. While yes, I believe I've seen a hack float by that allows Django apps to be "run" within CGI, it entails horrible performance implications. In general though, if python-CGI is your only option, don't expect to support large volumes of traffic with speedy response-times.
