I've just made an update to trunk locally and it seems to work, yeah. django-mptt does not seem to have a problem with the qs-rf merge, and I'm not using any special features of Django... Please note that this is very much a work in progress. You are very welcome to help out (of course) and I am also happy to answer questions about the code or the use of it, but note that some things might have to be changed. I'm using it in production for a few small sites already, so it isn't too bad for sure.
