Untested, but something like this should work:
f = os.path.dirname(__file__)
app_names = ['pages', 'articles', 'books', etc. etc.]
dirs = [os.path.join(f, app, 'templates').replace('\\','/') for app in
app_names]
TEMPLATE_DIRS = tuple(dirs)
