This is because of a bug I reported in the GDAL library (versions 1.4.1 and below): http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/ticket/1673 Fortunately, the bug is isolated to a single feature that is not used by the GeoDjango internals: the `close_rings()` function of Polygon OGR geometries. Thus, you should be able to use the rest of GeoDjango without any problems -- or you may upgrade your version of GDAL if you want to see all tests pass.
