Man I hear you. I've been doing web for 10 years, in a variety of languages. I have Django installed VERBATIM according to the documentation.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.11. I have Python 2.5.1 and Django 0.97 installed. I can get Django to run, but I can't get it to server images using the built-in server. mod_python is a whole other ball of wax. I have mod_python working on another Windows machine, but again, it won't serve images. Although it's not as fast, you should give Rails a look, if you haven't already. I've had a lot of success with it. Literally, I was up and running in 30 minutes, compiling everything I needed from source. But, I'm bound and determined to get this thing to work!
