I use windows to develop and linux in production , in a year of work , only missed a signal that exists in linux but not in windows , for IDE I use Pyscripter ( http://www.mmm-experts.com/) a very nice tool with a small foot print , use apache as my local web server and production server . Probably it would be a bit easier if production and development environment where the same , but on the other end if my client chooses windows or linux I really don't care .
