apacheco, I'm a little late here, but FYI, this bug was fixed three weeks ago in r6395.
Next time you encounter a problem like this please create a ticket in the Django trac (code.djangoproject.com) and specify the component as "GIS." I'm more likely to see tickets than postings in the user's group.
