Hello all,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. As they say: "The solution is
always simple", it is this line of code:

from django.db import connection
connection.connection = None

this closes the connection and forces Django to make a new one. Only
throwing away the _result_cache of a queryset wasn't enough,
unfortunately.
