The short answer is that there isn't really a rough estimate for anything on Django - and especially not on branch merges. It will be done when it is done. In particular, the full-text indexing branch has been stale since the end of the 2006 summer of code, so I wouldn't hold your breath for a merge. Someone will need to do a lot of work on this branch before it joins the trunk.
