If i remember well there is atleast one more, i forgot the name of that project. I'm affraid there is no ready made backgrounddrb, but to me it seems rather simple to implement. Only one problem: you need to be sure the backgroundserver is running, if not, then start it. But the last time i checked backgrounddrb (months ago) it had the same problem ;). As for reporting the progress, that's as simple as giving each job an id, and of course, keep track of the progress inside the jobs..
