Thanks, everyone, for all the helpful replies. However, none of these
has worked. To reply briefly to your suggestions: I have disabled
ZoneAlarm completely, deleted all cookies, enabled all cookies in both
IE 6 and Firefox, rebooted the PC and tried the following URLs:
http:127.0.0.1:8000/admin and http:localhost:8000/admin. ( I had done
all these things before I made the post.) I still get the message.

It is mentioned in the Django documentation as an occasional problem
with Firefox, because Firefox apparently doesn't like URLs without dots
in them. But according to this the 127.0.0.1 variant should work, but
it doesn't.

I'm baffled because my installation is absolutely standard - no special
toolbars, spam blockers or anything else. I think there is an issue
which needs addressing and am going to file a ticket, however if anyone
comes up with a solution I'll be really grateful.
