Hello there! Although you COULD use Session Authentication <http://www.chrisbartos.com/articles/how-do-i-implement-session-authentication-in-django-rest-framework/> to authenticate users from external clients. I don't recommend it. It's going to be a pain. Instead what I recommend is using either Token Authentication <http://www.chrisbartos.com/articles/how-to-implement-token-authentication-with-django-rest-framework/> or OAuth2 Authentication. They both allow you to authenticate from any client through the API rather than trying to authenticate through the Django view.
I'd be interested in hearing how Session Authentication is working for you and if you need help don't hesitate to ask questions about Token Authentication or OAuth2 Authentication.
