The "Python Crash Course" aim to teach python from nothing in the first half and to put that knowledge in application in the second half through 3 projects. These are a 2D game, some data visualization technique from diverse source and a django application.
Some people have some difficulty with the official django tutorial. https://tutorial.djangogirls.org/en/ offer a really nice alternative, more accessible to beginner and more complete too, with a section on handling form in django for exemple.
