ok I figured it out all i had to do was change my app urls.py and take out
customers so now its like this

from django.conf.urls import patterns, include, url
from django.views.generic.list import ListView
from vmware.models import Customer

urlpatterns = patterns('',
        url(r'^', ListView.as_view(
                queryset=Customer.objects.all().order_by("-id")[:100],
                        template_name="vms.html")),
)
