Celery is a good option, and probably the most used. There are a couple of other options that may be worth looking into:
Huey https://github.com/coleifer/huey Rq http://python-rq.org/ Personally I've never gotten on well with celery. It's just not at all intuitive to me (it's heavy use of decorators).
