how many users have you in your database?
you use mod_fcgi or mod_python? ( more recommendable will be mod_fcgi or 
mod_fcgid )

Django is framework that suppert very very large traffic.

so, the most important think is configure well all the different component 
around your project
like Apache2 ( big monster ), mod_fcgi etc….
