Do you have experience in programming in other languages? I picked up
Python using Alex Martelli's books: "Python in a Nutshell" and "Python
Cookbook". They are really good, and I think if you have prior
programming experience they won't be too hard for you.

(Note: If you decide to get Python in a Nutshell, be sure to get the
latest edition, which covers 2.4 / 2.5!)
