Remember, though, that when Django 1.2 was released the current Python was 2.6. There's not much the Django developers can do to hold up progress on Python.
MySQL-Python is a known issue, in that the developer advertises the fact that he has no Windows machines and therefore relies on third parties to port new releases of the package (and versions for new releases of Python) to Windows.
