The JRuby project recently announced that their next release will
include the ability to run Ruby on Rails within J2EE application
servers like JBoss or WebSphere. Would there be any interest in
pursuing a similar project for Django + Jython?

Jython has been stuck at version 2.1 for a long time, but recently a
company called ActiveGrid announced they're working on jython 2.3
support (though this work hasn't come out yet as something you can use
independently of their application server).
