But if performance is not an issue, I would create an intermediate program that takes all the emails and spreadsheets and makes (possibly local) HTTP POST requests on your server. This is the way we do it here: A cronjob scans a shared directory for new data regulary, and when it finds some, it sends an HTTP POST to the web server, which runs on the same machine.
