Apart from the fact that I've been using Docutils for years, it is more featureful than Markdown, and I like using a few powerful tools, instead of many specialized ones (otherwise I may be using PHP for the web, and Perl for parsing text... NOT! ;-) ). Also, from what little I've seen of Markdown, its syntax seems less consistent and more ad-hoc than ReST. Its Perl origins may show up here. ;-) Actually, I think that the attention on competing markup formats is stealing some thunder from Docutils, and I find this somewhat detrimental for the whole Python community. But ehi, don't let me influence your freedom of choice (see .sig), that's what it's all about, isn't it? :-) -- Nicola Larosa - http://www.tekNico.net/ we do what we're told we do what we're told we do what we're told told to do -- Peter Gabriel, We Do What We're Told, So, 1986 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Django users" group.
